We auctioned off a Birthday party at the local firehouse. We got a party supplier to donate fireodg paper goods, the local bakery to donate a cake, and a parent donated firemen hats.
We were lucky to have a fire cheif as a school parent - we auctioned off a ride to school in the fire truck. The child was picked up at home and taken to school in the fire truck. We also auctioned off a birthday party at the fire station, complete with party goods & cake. Both were very good sellers.
I got the idea from this forum, but our volunteer fire department donated rides in the Christmas parade. Our auction and carnival are the first of October and the parade is the first of December. They gave us two packages for two people each. I bought one and paid $30. My son and his friend loved riding on top of the truck in the parade.
The fire dept. anywhere is more then willing to help out......and chances are you have parents in your school that work for the firedepartment. Every year for our carnival they bring out a small truck and lets kids spray the water hose. They help us out a lot and we in turn for them help raise money for them to go to the World Police and Fire games (we hold a change drive...last year we raised 5000 for them)
We are having a Silent Auction again this year. I remember reading a post (but cannot find it now)about the Fire Department donating a ride on their Fire Truck as a Silent Auction Prize (item). I want to ask our Fire Dept. if they would do that but want more detail. Is the ride around town, is it with the Principal favorite teacher? What was the catch? Please let me know.
