These area lot of work and can be a lot of fun and good dollars if you're in the right locale. You make your biggest money with hole sponsors and good priced foursomes from companies (like $250 for a foursome, and you get the golf for $35 per person). Don't forget to budget for prizes and food. They cut into profits, but they're kind of expected as part of a foursome package. gte the guys to help on this one.
OUR SCHOOL HAS A TOURNAMENT EACH YEAR TO COVER FIELD TRIPS. THE GOLF COURSE DIRECTOR IS ALWAYS MORE THAN HELPFUL IN PLANNING IT. YOU WILL HAVE TO CHASE DOWN HOLE SPONSERS ECT... WE HAVE 25 FOUR SOMES, AND REQUEST DONATED PRIZES AND EVERY ONE WALKS AWAY WITH SOMETHING. OTHER GOLF COURSES WILL DONATE A FOURSOME TO THE SCHOOL SO MOST OF OUR GOLFERS HAVE A GAME AT ANOTHER COURSE. EACH YEAR IT GROWS AND THIS YEAR WE HAD PEOPLE TURNED AWAY. THE PRICE INCLUDES GOLF, LUNCH, AND A HAT THROWN IN BY THE COURSE. THIS PAST YEAR WE EARNED OVER 5000.00 FOR FIELD TRIPS.
Has anyone ever done a golf tournament as a fundraiser for their PTO, or for other purposes for that matter? Our school is considering doing one and would like to learn from others some lessons we should avoid and those that are must have's, or must-consider!
