Jog-a-thon

Our school holds an annual "walk-a-thon" each year. We had in previous years used the proceeds to pay for our new playground, last year we donated the money to Ronald McDonald House. This is the easiest fundraiser to do...we send the kids home with pledge sheets..they ask people to sponser them in their walk (we use the track to keep everyone in one area) the kids each get so much $ per lap or a regular donation. We have a "dj" come to play music, sno-cones, chips, refreshment stands so the kids can get water along the way. We have lots of volunteers with squirt bottles to keep the kids cool and refreshed. We hold this event right after school. Oh, we also have each kid wear a big paper foot attached to yarn around their neck so each time they pass the Lap Zone we hole punch it to keep track of laps. It really is a fun time..even the teachers get out there and do it...we usually make about $3000.00 with really no investment:)

Our principal is interested in holding a job-a-thon in the spring as a fundraiser. He has had previous experience with this activity being a major fundraiser (over $17K at a previous school). Does anyone have any tips they can give us for planning, implementing, etc? Please email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
