We havent at school but have as a church fundraiser.
It was a chili cookoff, $10 entry, 3 categories, Hot (Hotter,Hottest) MildExotic and Exotic (Greek, Thai and New England)
Didnt raise a lot, 20 people entered but we werent trying for a lot either.
Some of the Food and Recipe websites have ideas for cookoffs (unfortunately I have them bookmarked on a 'puter not connected to the network I'm on)
Everyone had fun, hope it helps

Prizes could include donated restaurant certificates or baskets filled with cooking "stuff". I like the idea.
