We have the teachers pick out the type of basket that they want to put together for our silent auction. We provide the basket and near the end of the time alloted, if the teacher has not had many kids donate, we provide the teacher with money to finish the basket. They like to shop with someone else's money. We also do the shrink wrap and place a nice tent card next to the basket to announce which class/teacher provided the basket. It seems to work well.
As far a teacher participation in PTC, we seem to see them only when they want something. . . a little frustrating, but they do express their appreication that we are there.
Our teachers work in pairs and host carnival booths in their classrooms. PTO provides trinkets and small prizes. The teachers keep the proceeds of their booths to use in their classrooms - consumable goods or books, etc. that stay in the school. PTO keeps the proceeds from the silent auction, theme box raffle and concession stand. This has really motivated the teachers to be creative and more willing to work on a Friday night.
Help!! We are holding our 2nd annual silent auction/carnival in April, and we need to find a way to encourage teacher participation. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also, more information on the classroom projects would be wonderful. Thanks in advance for any information.
