Not even when you are not charging anything? I can't believe that you can't do it as a fun activity, if you are not charging for anything. Then again, in this state, nothing would surprise me!

You need to check and see if the legislature's repeal of the Las Vegas Nights law killed your chance to do a Bingo night. It doesn't matter that it isn't a fundraiser, free, fun-to-do thing. Our PTO (in CT) had one where we didn't charge a thing, gave prizes and had a good time.... But that was before the law was repealed. Now the administration says that we can't do it.

Our PTA held a Bingo event a couple weeks ago for the first time, and the very first thing I would suggest is checking with your state regarding if you need a license. I didn't think for a minute because it was a bunch of kids doing it for fun, not a fundraiser, that we would need one. But at our regular meeting when we were discussing it, our DARE officer was present and said we needed a license, etc., so it took a lot of phone calls to find out what we actually had to do. We did still have it and it was a lot of fun. I won't go into what our state said because you are probably in a different state so it would not apply. I would start there. We held it for two hours, stopped half way for cookies and drinks. We got our Bingo supplies from Oriental Trading. The cards have shutters on them so you don't need chips or daubbers (sp?). We got 200 cards, the mastercard, cage and number balls for about $250. I hope this helps.

Hi I was reading in a couple of other posts about bingo nights. I have never been to one, let alone our school having one. I was thinking of doing it, not as a fundraiser, but just as a fun event, especially during TVTurnoff week, which by the way is the last full week in April. But I have no idea how you would run one. Where do you get the bingo supplies from? Are they paper with dabbers or are they reusable? We have some cheap types prizes left over from our Harvest Festival and could use them as prizes. We are a pre-k through third and I was thinking it would be for the kids to play with parents help. Has anybody ever tried this? I think it could be a great social event, fun for the kids and keeping them away from tv for one day of that week. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!!!! :D
