Ours will be held in mid/late April---can't remember the exact date. We make sure it's not on Mother's Day weekend (which happened one year) or anywhere near our spring break.
ONe of the other schools in town who does an auction always has it in February but we do ours a bit later to give us more time to prepare.
We are having ours the last weekend in April. We don't do any other fundraisers in the spring and this allows everyone to be totally involved in the event.
We hold our auction the last weekend of April. (Folks should have gotten their tax refunds by then too.) Our reasons are basically the same as the post above.
We hold our Auction in the Spring (the first week in March) and it is the kick off for National Lutheran Schools Week. I like the Spring because you have time get get your letters out before the Holiday rush and then do follow-up after the Holidays are over. Finalize plans and get your day of volunteers in February.
We just held ours last Friday in conjunction with our annual fall festival (dinner and carnival). This was my first time doing donations, I started in August and got about 50 from area businesses. I had two people on my committee. This may not sound like a lot, but last year we had half as many donations and this year we made three times as much money.
I'm just curious when everyone holds their annual auctions. We will be holding our 4th auction on April 1, '06. Are some months better that others in regards to donations?
