I'm not sure if this is a "reward" or not, but we are going to try accepting Box Tops as full or partial payment to our PTA-run Santa Shop/Book Fair, and possibly for other events as well. We placed a use limit of 250 ($25.00) box tops per student, per event, with no restrictions on what they could purchase. I think we're gonna get a LOT of boxtops!
Our school does a raffle. Each box top that is turned in is an entry - the kids write their name on the back of the box top. Only those that are trimmed to size qualify (helps the committee) and the prize is a Target gift card for the winner and an ice cream for each kid in the class with the highest number of box tops turned in. I think last year we made $1400 on box tops.
Since funds have pretty much been eliminated for everything at our school, this year we decided to give the money directly to each class turning in Box Tops. We require that they trim and bag them, then we will write them a check. It has received a tremendous response from the teachers. We'll see how many Box Tops we get. They are just starting to turn them in.
We have a make your own sundae for the winning class. A poster is set up with each class on it in the hallway and the boxtop mom records which class is winning. The class with the most boxtops in the spring wins the ice cream party. The money raised goes to the school and the student council and the student population pick the item to be bought with the proceeds.
Last year we offered a prize to the top 4 grades that collected the most boxtops, the chance to throw a pie in the face of our 2 vice principals.
(We were a K-10th school and every year we add a grade).
This was soooo successful and everyone had a great time. We even had the local newspaper come out to take pictures.
I was wondering if you guys have any ideas along this line that we could do this year. I talked to the VPs about kissing a pig, but that suggestion did not go over with them. So if you have any ideas, please let me know,
Thanks
