Do they legally have jurisdiction over you? The answer is no. However, they can tell you that you can no longer operate within their buildings and they can forbid you from sending your newsletter home through the school.
As a seperate entity, your organization governs itself. But because it is their building you are operating within they can put limits on what you can and cannot do within their building.
Out of curiosity...do you know why they don't want you to have sponsors for your newsletter? Did they give you a reason?
Hello again,
Does anyone know if a Community School Board has jurisdiction to make PTO decisions, rather, override PTO decisions?!
Our school board completely opposes the PTO's decision to use sponsors for our bi-monthly newsletter. The sponsors are only displaying their business card in our newsletter for a small fee to offset the cost of printing.
Anyone's thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
