We just had our jog-a-thon yeasterday and it was a GREAT success.
Flat rate donations makes life MUCH easier.
Here are just a couple things that we did to get everyone excited.
A couple weeks before the run we have each class come up with a Team name and then make a poster with the team name and each classmembers name on it.
We hang them all in the hallway so that the kids, teachers and parents can all see them.Everyone gets a kick out of some of the team names.
We offer some contests- The one child from each class that runs the most laps gets to have a (donated) Subway lunch at school with the Principal.
The class that raises the most money receives a (donated)classroom pizza party.
All students get a free T-shirt.
We get sponsors to donate $$ to cover the cost of the shirts, in return we put their business name on the back of the shirt.
We serve snow-cones after the run and the kids just love that.
Lots of fun for everyone!!
I am taking over the jog-a-thon this year. I am changing it to a flat fee donation instead of per lap. I'm meeting some resistance to that..we are going to give every kid with a pledge a rubber bracelet with our school name and those who bring in $30 will get a t-shirt with our school logo and jog-a-thon date. I am looking for any new and creative ways to get EVERYONE excited about doing this. I've asked the teachers to do a 3 legged race to start it off..so any help out there would be appreciated !
