You could make your own. I have a recipe for making sidewalk chalk:
1/3 cup plus 2TBS of water
2 TBS liquid tempera paint
1 squirt of liquid dish soap
2/3 cup dry Plaster of Paris
wrapping paper tubes cut into 6 inch pieces or bath tissue tubes.
Tape one end of each tube with masking tape. In a coffee can or disposable container gently (so as not to make too many bubbles) mix together water, paint, soap and plaster. Fill tubes 1/3 full. Mix as many colors as desired and layer the tubes. Let set several hours then tear away paper. Use lightly greased candle or candy molds for fun shapes.
Just a thought. It's pretty easy to do, but sometimes findling a supplier of this would be easier too. We're doing a kids's artwork fundraiser at our school using a company advertised on here. You might be able to incorporate that too into your festival.
Good luck with the planning.
Perhaps your local art museum has some sort of Outreach program. Or at least help with ideas.
Sounds like fun...dont forget about Face painting! And how about balloons with paint in them. Seems like I saw something like that--you throw them and they pop and it makes a great design. It might have been in the Princess Diary movie, now that I think about it.
hi guys, I was talking to the art teacher today and we were tossing around ideas for an art night and it evolved into sidewalk art festival, needing food, entertainment, etc. I was just wondering if anyone has done a family art night and had any ideas for it. A friend of mine suggested art bingo as well. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks, maggie
