We have weekly Open School nights. Every Wednesday we have open gym, and the kids (and parents) can play basketball or volleyball. We also have open library (the kids can use the computers) and we have board games (that hasn't really taken off yet) We periodically have craft nights. (which are very popular) We don't charge for these. The idea is to give families a place to go in the winter months. (and to think of the school as a community center)
We have had family fun nights. For these we pick a theme and hire a DJ for a dance. We supply snacks and door prizes. We have not done this as a fund raiser but instead as a budgeted event to help spend the money that we raise. I think we budget about $700 for it.
Has anyone ever tried Family Game nights or movie nights as a fundraiser/event? How does it work? Any ideas or suggestions are greatly welcome. We are a small elementary school of about 400 families.
