Last week we had 2 retired teachers come to our school for the day and read to each class in the library. The library was decorated in balloons and as each student came in they were given a blow pop. As each student left they were given a bookmark that had balloons on it and read Pop Open a Good Book!, the date and the name of our library. The students really enjoyed it.
Does anyone have a few good ideas of what to do for students to promote the Read across America Week with in our school? The PTA at our school is responsible for the running of the library (we have a very small school, 165 students) and I have been trying to think of something to do next week for the kids. I have bookmarks for them, and was thinking of something on the lines of gummie worms as Bookworms. Not sure of anything just yet so any ideas will be great! Thank You!
