Box Tops Deadline

We have a small school of 160 students. We have spirit day once a month. At the beginning of the year each child is given a 8x11 brown envelope with their name on it. Each spirit day we send it in with all items, receipts, campbell labels and box tops. The coordinator collects the envelopes from the classrooms. The students each receive a little prize(sticker, tattoo, cookie etc) and this year the committee is given the parent who turns in the most item a GC. Only one parent per month can win. In one month alone we brought in over 1/3 of the total from last year..

Betty Crocker Points! I love it! I had someone leave a box of redemption stuff on my desk @ work. There were a lot of labels, a few bt's & a TON of BCP & KOOL AID POINTS!! It was so cute, I HAD to count them 6000 PCP & about 500 Kool Aid!! It's the thought that counts, I guess!! ;)

We have around 500 students. Our normal checks are usually around $1200.00 a year. We usually don't have the same class's winning in a row.

The "garbage" that is in the collections are pretty funny. Just this last contest there was jewelry in a baggy, didn't know who it belonged to so we just gave it to the office and let them put an announcement in the weekly newsletter.

I agree, the "garbage" found mixed in with the box tops is a hoot. I have found the craziest stuff.

My personal favorite, aside from the Betty Crocker points and Campbell's labels that we all get.. is the actual Box Tops of ANY product.. that are put in.. umm.. we don't mean Box Tops.. literally! LOL

We have run year long contests in the past. Some years, if one particular room is way ahead, interest has been lost by other rooms. Also have done "season" contests. Fall. Winter. Spring. Shorter time period--but greater excitement. I trim bt's on 3 sides and have given up on tearing off the excess cardboard on the backing, after wrecking my thumbs. Toss 50 in a small ziploc bag, and I cut a small hole in the bag, which helps keep the bags flat. The flat rate boxes from the post office can be stuffed full, for a pretty good rate. But if you are sending in just a few, don't go that route. DO pay for the extra 50 cents (approx.) delivery confirmation service. DON'T bother trying to insure them. Post office says they have no value. (Ha!!--little do they know....)

Many coordinators have gone to the collection sheets, with room for 50 boxtops to be attached to the page. They send home the blank collection sheets, parents attach all 50, and then send in to school. They tend to not get lost in the bottom of the junk drawer this way.

I have found the Boxtops coordinators board very helpful, not only for bt's, but for Campbells, etc., also.

Most important hint: don't wait till the last minute to clip/sort. You'll regret it.

we do a redemption table every grading period. For every 10 boxtops or campbell's labels the kids bring in they get 1 fake dollar, a table is set up at lunch time and the kids get to shop with thier boxtops money. we buy dollar store type items for this table. It is a big hit and we collect alot of labels &bt's
