Did someone say Food Network? Best network ever!! Iron Chef might be hard to do inside the school but maybe do it as an outdoor grilling event. Talk with local merchants about donations (food, grill and table rentals). Might be a nice addition to a planned event such as a spring fair.
Hey contact Food Network maybe they will help out as well!!
Our county 4-H clubs to a creative cooks competion once a year. They make their money from the entry fee and have several catagories. Sometimes they provide a theme but often it's left up to the entriees...it isn't called creative for nothing!! The event is usually held in a church hall (keep costs down) so entrats are able to bring some items prepaired but otherwise (I think) items can be prepaired on skillets etc.
I've heard it's a blast, it's always been the same weekend as another event for our familiy but I would really love to participate!
That would be great! We can't do it at our school because we aren't a base kitchen and our kids lunches are like tv dinners. I don't know if the board of health would let parents use the kitchen in a school like that though.
Has anyone tried doing a cook off or "iron chef" for a fundraiser? How was it etc, etc? My husband and I love watching the food network and thought this might be a good thing to try. Any input would be nice.
