I had everything sent to my house over the summer. Our school is open during the summer but its mainly for maintenance and summer camp. There wasn't anyone to put the boxes in a certain place other than the front desk, so it was better to have it all at my house.
If the school is "closed" I would suggest having things sent to your home since you are handling the fundraiser. Although our school is "closed" for the kids we still have office staff who are employed 12 months out of the year so the school is never really "closed". Perhaps that is the case for you. If the school is open you can advise the office staff that there are things (donations) coming in over the summer. Do you store all your items in a particular room at school? Some PTO's are lucky enough to have their own room or storage room. If not, then I would just have donations sent to your home.
