Looks like they donate....

Laura, I really wouldn't wait too much longer. It took over a month to hear back from Blockbuster. Many of the corporate sites that I looked at said to allow anywhere from 8 weeks or 12 weeks to hear back from them, depending on which site I was looking at.

Hi,
Thanks for answering! Our event is April 29. I'm not sure why they didn't confirm the fax that was sent. I mailed it out to them with a note attached that it had been faxed 1/17 but since I didn't receive confirmation I was snailmailing. If they aren't able to donate, that's fine, but I was under the impression that they would have contacted me to confirm receipt, and then responded with a yes or no. Sounds like a nice goody bag for your attendees! They should be pleased.

In response to Moomduck1's post, our auction is March 10, 2006. I requested an auction item and 120 packets of their coffee. I am planning on passing out coupons when a person purchases their bid ticket and thought that I could put a packet of coffee in their bag. I received from a nearby outlet mall vouchers that can be taken to the mall office to exchange for a coupon book. The voucher is worth $5.00. This is something else that will be handed out.

Hi,
We have not yet received all of our replies either, as it has only been a few weeks. But I do not intend to follow up with phone calls. I feel that if they were planning on donating, they would have. If they threw it in the trash and weren't courteous enough to reply, then so be it.

Now for local donations, that is a different story. They are part of the community and there are some that I would follow up on. Not every single one, but perhaps bigger ticket items. We have been trying to approach local businesses face to face rather than mailing, though there were some local letters that went out.

That's just my opinion.

For those of you who have sent donation requests to corporate businesses in the past, what do you do if you don't get a response? Should I try to find a phone number or email address and contact them again? I mailed 90% of all of our requests, sent very few emails. Just wanted to see what type of luck anyone might have had. Didn't know if maybe the request didn't make it to the right department or person or if that is the easy way to say no.
