OK CVmom, I hate to tell you this since your team will be competing against our team. Last year we let the students and parents buy a square in honor or memory of someone with cancer. The goal was to wrap the school.
I think this year we will do it, but have a race between grades. Put the blocks on the wall and race down the hall.
See you at the race. Just come by and ask for Pottsville Mom!
It would be great to get the kids envolved since it is a K-4 school.
How about a "field day" type event, carnival or Goofy Olympics.
“Goofy Olympics†day. organize fun and silly games, like egg in spoon race, sack race, checkers tournaments, etc. Participants pay an entry fee per game or for the whole day. Prizes (donated) are given to winners of each contest or game. Combine this program with food and game booths.
A pancake breakfast is usually a big hit. Have entertainment lined up: bands, magician, kids singing, or a talent show.
One of the teams around here had people to pledge a certian amount per pound they lost. They did this individually. The time period was a month or two I can't remember.
We have a candle maker that is now has parties like Tupperware, etc. One time had a show and the rep was allowed to donate so much of the profit to the team, plus they could recieve cash instead of merchindise, so they donated it too.
You could also hold tournaments, like golf or fishing. We also have a community that holds a reverse OPry, guys dress up as girl singers and vice versa. They make tons of money. Perhaps you know a local band that would have concert and you could make a little carnival out of it.
