I have given up on the poster search so this topic can be closed to make more room on the board if any one knows how. I decided I better quit while I was ahead since we already have 25 boothes to run. (also doing donations for bingo and raffle)Don't want to push my luck finding volunteers. Thanks everyone for your help.
You might try the athletic departments of your state's universities. They usually have posters promoting their sports teams and sometimes even particular players.
If you do Scholastic bookfairs, call them and see if they have any excess inventory from last season that they can give you. Or at least sell for a significantly reduced rate. I know our local warehouse is opening up in 2 weeks to get rid of old stuff before they start all the book fairs this year.
Sounds crazy (why have I not!) but I have gone to sporting goods stores and had luck with getting those hard to find ones of local sport heros etc. Not the a poster of say John Elway is hard to find in Denver (LOL!) but those of other sport figures are easier to find. I would even ask if they have older posters in the back they can't sell for a possible donation. Remeber, retail managers are best to catch in the morning when the store opens (my husband is in a MUCH better mood at 8:00 as opposed to 3:00 when he has been dealing with "stuff" ).
Have a donation letter ready and PLEASE don't call, you maybe blown off...or worse, hung up on!
