I know where I am (in California) State Farm insurance runs a Bike Safety event. They have multiple stations to learn about bike safety with about 15+ adults running it. I don't remember if they had the helmets or we got them donated locally. I did not do this in assoc. with school, it was a charity event for another cause, but I know they do schools.
Try a large insurance carrier with a presence in your area.
Contact you local bike shop(s), they can give you the phone numbers of the helmet reps and they may have an employee that can come and give a simple lesson on changing a tube. My husband is a mountain biker and when he shows the kids his cracked helmets and explains that it would have been his head if he had not been wearing the helmet, it goes a lot farther than just talking about it. Your local bike shop probably has a few cracked helmets that could be used as examples.
I believe Bell helmets has a program offering $5 helmets, but I could be wrong.
Help! I saw a post yesterday that mentioned an event featuring free bike helmets, and I can't remember where. I really like this idea! Does anyone have ideas/info on running a bike safety event? As always thanks!
