Every year we do a math-a-thon and it is run by St. Judes Children's hospital and all the money raised goes to their foundation. So I can only tell you how St. Judes does theirs.
Each kid goes home with a booklet filled with age appropriate math problems. The booklet usually has something like 100 math problems in it.
The pledge forms ask for people to pledge a certain amount per problem. So if you pledged 10 cents a problem for a 100 problems that would be $10. Our kids do them at home and not during school hours. They are given a certain time frame (usually 3 weeks) in which to complete the book or as many problems as they can.
I was hoping some of you could help me with gathering info on a math or spell a thon. I've searched the site and found a few posts, but they were out-dated or not very specific (I know that sounds nit-picky). This will be the first time we've considered this kind of fundraiser and I need as much info as I can get. Pledge sheets, who does what, is it held during school hours, etc. There was a "how-to" packet of info going around a few years back. If any of you have it, could you pls forward it? Thanks!
