I too would like to do a breakfast the first day of school. I looked on the PTO Resource Sharing web site and got the idea of a Boo-Hoo breakfast for kinder parents. No profit... just a continental breakfast with lots of socializing and information. They suggest even having 1st grade parents (former kinder parents) there to share with the new parents what to expect over the next year. I think it sounds like a great plan.
Hey, it's never too early to plan! I would suggest that it not be a fundraiser, but a welcome to our school for new parents, and a welcome back to the older ones. It's a great way to get your information out about what you hope to accomplish, what activities your group plans to participate in, etc.
It's also a time of finding sponsors to help fund your events.
I know it's still only May but I was just recently elected co-president of our PTO and we really want to start the year off w/a bang. We'd like to have a "Back to School Breakfast" for all interested parents. It wouldn't necessarily be a fundraiser - just a social way to introduce otherwise uninterested parents to PTO. Has anyone else done this and what can we do to ensure a success and a lot of participants. I'm interested and grateful for all responses. Thanks.
