Family Fun Night--DISCO

Big Rubik's cubes!! Flower pots like Devo had on their head "whip it good". Although the kids probably wouldn't get it.

Have a "Big Hair" contest - Have a measuring tape handy!!

See if someone has an old PONG game in their basement and set that up for playing.

In the cobwebs of my mind, I just remember lighted dance floors and color, color, color.

The DIY website has some good ideas. Check it out here: www.diynet.com/DIY/article/0,2058,8767,00.html

Hope this helps.

For decorations just get some balloon arrangments. Tie them to a small gift bag. Inside the gift bag put a can of food in it so that the balloons stay ancored, and fill with crepe paper. This looks really nice but is very easy. Also get some black lights, the kids love these. What really helped me is that the PE and Music teacher taught the kids a bunch of dances a week or two before our dance night. We did the chicken dance, the Macarana, the YMCA and the limba complete with limba sticks. This way the kids had already learned some dances they could do. Don't forget the bunny hop etc. for the younger kids. We held a best dressed contest for the kids, complete with prizes. And at the end we had a best dance contest. These winners got to take the decorations( ballooon gift bags) home. Our decor was neon colors, but I think metalic would work well too. Good luck.

Can you help with ideas for an 80's Disco theme for next week? We'll have some strobe lights, but what else do we need?
Thanks,
Lisa @ Tx
