That's a neat name from guest. How about finding out the acutual Chinese name and then it would be would spread a little culture. Ok, it sounded better in my head. Thanks for the tip though. I always wondered about what a Chinese Auction was. Sounds like a pretty cool fundraiser.
Our school holds a Chinese Auction each year (donated items are displayed with boxes in front of each; people purchase tickets and deposit as many as they like into the box(es) for the prizes they would like to win, then we draw a ticket from each box.).
When my son started at this school the event was called the Penny Social and was small but fun. However, the name gave no clue what it was about and last year the name was changed to the Fall Social when we raised ticket prices from 10 cents to 25 cents (6/$1). Each year it gets bigger, but the name still doesn't give people any idea what they'll be doing if they come.
We'd like to give it a new name that is catchy but reflects the spirit of the event better, but we're at a loss as to what that name should be; the only thing I can think of is the Autumn Auction, not very exciting either.
Does anyone have any ideas we can use for a better name? The event is next month so we have to start publicizing it soon. Thanks!
