Last year we did a "Special Days Calendar" and sent it out the first day of school. The first Friday of every month was a special day... Sept: School Spirit Day-- on this day each child was to wear blue and white (our district colors) and the PTO gave each child a bumper sticker with the school logo. Went over very well. Our school is K-5 so we tried to diversify our days... more examples... Army Fatigue Day, a beach party in June, Rugrats Day, Harry Potter Day (we gave away 2 tickets to the movie when it first opened (the tickets were donated by a local theater)). The kids loved it! WQe haven't made up this years calendar yet but our Officers meeting is in the next couple of weeks. Hope this helps
Hi Deeta. Last year we did something each month for the kids. We went online and found for instance that Sept. was "Better Breakfast Month" so we had apples donated and purchased granola bars to pass out to the kids. We tried to pick something fun each month (and tried to include a snack or treat). In Feb. we gave each child a quarter and a penny for President's Day. (We have about 190 kids K-5). Anyway, it was fun. We also decorated our bulletin board to go along with the fun day. We didn't disrupt class time. Mostly just handed out stuff.
We also do spirt day every friday, kids wear the school colors/shirts. Kids love the special days, crazy hair day, USA day (wear red, white & blue)hippie day!! What fun!
We do a Spirit Week every year. I hadn't thought about spreading it out to once a month. We do a Hat Day, Inside Out Day, Wacky Wed. (dress as wacky as you can), PJ Day, and a School Pride day where you wear the school colors.
