Our school has one every year, and yes they are a huge undertaking but the kids really get a kick out of it. A couple of suggestions, we call ours a Variety Show that way it opens the doors to many kids who don't feel they have an actual "talent" but helps boost their self-esteem. We limit each act to around 3 minutes or so, otherwise you get ones that go on and on. The other thing we do is each act must have parent consent, and are on a first-come basis. That way you don't end up with 12 versions of the same song. It is always up to the chairpeople's discretion as to the "moves" and songs as well. Each participant receives an award at the end and I believe the 8th graders receive a special award or certificate because it's their last year.
Hope that helps! As a new presiden I love this forum!
Hi,
Did you find out any great ideas for your school Talent Show yet? Our school plans to have our first one in April! Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!
I'm a new president and very new at this but I think a talent show is a wonderful idea. I don't have any info for you but I am wondering if you are including parents/ families or if this is just for the students.
Sorry I wasn't any help but I love the idea!
If you'd like, I can email copies of our talent show forms/rules, etc., for this year. Talent shows are huge undertakings - we've been doing one for several years now and it's always one of our biggest and most fun events. Just let me know!
