We worked with the art teacher to have each class make a handpainted tray. We got the wooden trays from a local craft shop and had parent volunteers modpodge them when the class was done. Total expense per tray was about $5 and each try went for at least $25. We also did one small toy chest per grade.

I have been in charge of this at our shcool for the past 2 years. We've had each kid create a square for a quilt and then sew it all together. We've also done several ceramic pieces and have had the kids do a theme picture on them. We did one where we put all the tiles on a bench and it went for $300. We've made posters out of a classes artwork. Mosaic mirror and flower pots. Decoupaged mirrors, decoupaged stool all with the classes art work. You need to take them to a COLOR COPIER before you decoupage or else they will run. "Stained" glass window were we use the glass paint from Michael's. We also did a kindergarten butterfly mirror where the kids used their fingerprints to make the bodies of the butterflies and then drew the wings on with paint pens. I added the sky and clouds, sun and grass and it was a big hit. We had 2 sets of twins in class also ! Really the ideas are endless ! Hope this helps !

Two years ago we had a spring carnival and I did the silent auction part. We had a total of about 25 things (some items from different businesses went together for a bigger prize), including a basket from each class. The "special" teachers did baskets also.... ie) title teachers ie) fine are teachers went together to do one, etc...

With the 25 baskets we made over $3,000 just on the silent auction alone. The one basket with the theme "New Baby" that was donated by one of the classes brought in over $300.

We had a silent auction that went over really well. Kindergarten students colored a favorite flower on paper. One parent put the colored paper flowers together to look like a boquet and put it in what looked like a vase. Then she took a picture of it and made a print out of it. It was matted and framed and looked fabulous! The original was offered with it. Two parents went in on the creation. One parent wanted to original and one wanted the print. They bid it up and split the cost and took the part they wanted! Worked out great!

Each year, our kindergarten teacher donates books made up using artwork from the class. For example there is a tooth fairy book where each child has drawn and dictated what they think the tooth fairy is on a tooth shaped page. The pages are laminated and bound. The books are always big winners. Another school had each child paint an angel and made a class book of angels.
