We have (voluntary) 'assessments'. And almost all contribute. We dont do any fundraising. Too much hassles for the returns. We do only the fun fairs, etc. for fun, not profit. But most schools dont have the luxury, homogeneity of socio/economics and demographics to do this sort of thing. I realize its a bit eutopic and not reality show so cant be applied many places.
Many private and some public do what they call 'opting out' (just like the do not call list) a one time cash or check payment (tax deductible of course if youre a bona fide non profit corp!!!!) at years start and 'we wont call you anymore' eg bother you with fundraisers throughout the year. $100 seems to be a recurring number but it all depends on the demographics and socioeconomics of your schools population and what is reasonable, together with the $$$ needs for your budget.
This year, we're considering offering our families the option of either selling candy bars for our fundraiser or just giving a $30 donation. Do any of you out there do this type of thing? This may be a silly question, but what do you call it? LOL How do you word your flyer to explain this to your families? Sorry about the "twenty questions" game here, but inquiring minds want to know!
