My Chairperson just recieved the contract and gave it to me to review and it does indeed note a shipping charge. It says shipping charges no greater then $85 will be charged for the original order. Any orders shipped after the original order are subject to additional UPS charges.
We have used them for a few years and have always done well regardless of the shipping fee. Unfortunately these people have the sole fundraising rights to Yankee Candle, so you can't get a better deal elsewhere.
Hi Backhoed! I honestly do not know the answer to that question as I have not chaired the event and it is one of those fundraisers we have just done for years now, before I came along. We do have a new chair this year who just contacted them and got all the info. I will see her tomorrow at school to and find out the answer and get right back to you.
This year is our first year doing a candle sale. We are using a mom and pop company--a couple who makes soy candles as a home business--our PTO receives 25% from every candle we sale--we set up a table at basketball games, wrestling, football and other PTO activities--breakfast with santa, a table in the teachers lounge and we post the sale in our PTO newsletters. So far we have done pretty good. But like I said this is our first time.
Serendipity, if I may ask a "most timely question" regarding the Yankee Candles- We are setting up to do this at my music boosters association in January and they want to charge us $85 for shipping?! Is this the norm with Yankee candles? We do not usually have shipping charges incurred by any of our fundraisers. I guess I want to know if I should pick an argument or not. - thanks!
