Our school is also a private Catholic school and we have to volunteer 50 hours each school year. 25 of those hours need to be met by the last day of school in December before winter recess or you have to pay $500, the other 25 must be met the week before the school year ends in June or you have to pay another $500. Some families actually opt to just pay the $1,000 when school starts in September and not do any volunteering. Sad, but true.
Quick aside on this.... for those schools that need to or want to track volunteer hours, our PTO Manager software (www.ptomanager.com
) makes it very smple.
Obviously, if you have a mandated hours program, then you need to track hours. But tracking hours is also great if you're introducing a pledge program (look for PTO Today's new pledge program in coming weeks!) or just want to celebrate the hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of essential contributions you make to the school.
Our school is a private catholic school. We have to volunteer 40 hours for the school year if you don't want to volunteer the 40 hours you can pay 400 dollars up front and forget about it. If you choose to work your 40 hours and they aren't done at the end of the school year then we receive a bill. However, the PTO isn't in charge of volunteer hours the school is.
