Go to your local merchants and ask them to donate. Try electronics stores for a Boombox, VCR, TV, or sporting goods store for bikes, etc. Walmart was a great donor for us. Try restaurants, theaters, car places for oil changes, detailing, etc.
We do one raffle a year at our secert santa shop. WE have 2 raffles going on one withsmaller things (crafts, baskets, gc) tickets are 1 each or 6 for 5.00. The other raffle is 2.00 each and we put bigger prizes there (sonme donated some bought with donations) this year the grand prize was a limo ride and 100.00 amex GC, we also had 2 bikes, tv, DVd player, playstaion 2 and gameboy advanced (with games) and some other graet prizes. Since we do this at out christmas shop we try and put in prizes that could be used for christmas. Parents sometimes make a note on the ticket that it is a gift so we call out a different name.
Our school did a picnic table. The table was donated and painted with a really cute picture on the top and on the benches. A crafty parent volunteered to do the painting and weather proofing. We sold tickets for $1 each or 6 for $5. We maid $1000.00 off of the picnic table and their was no cost for us, only volunteer time and effort. We also had a local crafter donate a wooden rocking chair that was painted with an American flag. No cost to us, made $800.00 of that raffle. We try to have at least three nice raffle prizes for the year and correspond the give away with our family dinner events.
I think? I will be in charge of raffle donations this year(our pres. always has been in the past and that is me this year), and of course I must surpass all that have come before me(a little nuts) so I need some good ideas, the only one i have so far is a weekend package with hotel stay, dinner, movie, etc..., so i need help!!
