At our school we have an annual jog a thon. It brings in approx. $10,000. What we do is the PTC comess up with a slogan, IE Reach for the Stars. Our art teacher has the students draw pictures reflecting the slogan. We pick a winner and that is printed on all the shirts. At the kick off we show the shirt off and introduce the student. The kids take pledge sheets home for two weeks. Flat rate or per lap. The day of the run we have alot of music, volunteers, etc. Each grade gets a set amount of time depending on the ages to run laps. Volunteers mark laps on tally sheets pinned to the students' back. After the class runs we have volunteers count laps and write it on the pledge sheet, it gets sent home so the kids can collect the pledges. If a student collects $20 or more in pledges they get a shirt. Hope this helps
