That is valuable information. Please, oh please, keep us updated. We voted last night at our monthly meeting to pursue these gas cards. I'm grateful we can learn from others on this post. Can't wait to hear...

update on the gas cards....we did receive them from Perkins ( www.perkinsdistributing.com ), but there are issues with the cards. This is most likely directly related to the gas company we are dealing with. Our cards are 4% discount cards, the problem is two fold. We have people expecting that they can just go into the station and swipe the card and get the 4%. The way our program is set up, you must load money onto the card like a gift card. he second problem we encountered is that the employees at the gas station seem clueless about the discount cards. they have told people that their cards arent activated and sending them away. It is the employee that is supposed to activate the card!! We have had clerks try and charge our customers twice for their cards. Some clerks have just been downright rude to our customers about using the card. We are currently taking this issue up with both Perkins and Speedway. Both have been extremely helpful on trying to get the issue resolved, however it is ultimately the clerk at the station that is causing the downfall of the program. We have not yet released the sale of these cards to the entire school yet, as we are trying to work out the "bugs" first. This had seemed like a great fundraiser at first, but we now see that there may be alot of very angry customers.

Can you please post the Perkins website address? If they have an address. Thanks. And please do tell us what's going on.

I am considering ordering gas cards from Perkins as well. Just wondering if you received your cards yet & what do you think?

In regards to your questions...we have just signed on to do the gas cards. We have not yet received our cards nor have we begun the sale of the cards. I can say though...the number of people that I have talked to about the gas cards have all said, count me in for 1 ! As far as the discounts we got...we were given 4%, the cards do not expire, you get a 4% discount on items in the store excluding lottery and money orders. You do have to prepay, but you have the option of "loading" money onto the card and using it like a credit card at the pump. This deal varies from station to station, as they set up the type of discount that they will give you. It is by no means a standard. I will let you know how the sale of the cards goes, but we are not selling these until the end of october.

Hello mckinleypti>

How did your group do with the gas card fundraiser? How many cards were sold? Did customers have to go inside to swipe their card or do they just show it the card (no swipping)?

Did customers also receive a discount on products purchased inside besides gas (candy, soda, etc.)?

Any other feedback you could provide is greatly appreciated.

THANKS
