Being the President of the "other" PTA/PTO in our town, I am digusted by the out of control fundraising that has been going on in the other school in town. This PTA has become nothing shy of fundraising whores and to make matters worse, Bergen County PTA is doing nothing about itnor is NJ PTA.

This PTA, I felt, hit an all time low when they decided to pass off their fundraisers to my school without running it by the Principal or myself.And to boot, no where on the flyer does it state it's a fundraiser. When I got wind of it I stopped it dead in it's tracks and followed up with a letter to the Superintendent. I was told it was a "misunderstanding" but they knew what they were doing.The only misunderstanding was that they didn't count on being caught!

Just when you think they couldn't possibly sink any lower, SURPRISE! Today a friend of mine received a letter from the PTA stating that since her child will be going to that school for Kindergarten that they were offering her a chance to purchase spiritwear so the child is prepared for next year.

First, let me make very clear that NO WHERE on the flyer does it state that this is a fundraiser. Secondly, these kids aren't even in your school yet! You'll have the next 9 years to rape them over, why start now? And when is enough enough? They have a fundraiser every other week and don't give anything back to the kids.

What I want to know is, do any other schools out there hit up their pre-K children for fundraisers? And where is the PTA support? I'm starting to feel as thou PTA just takes the money and runs. From what I've always been told by PTA, PTA's are not supposed to become a fundraising factory, that's what PTO's are!

And now for the best part of all, this fundraising chair has just been voted in as the new PTA President for next year, GOD HELP US ALL!!!!!
