If you're just lookimg for places, try the state's tourism board, check out day trip books for large cities, local (free) magazines that you generally pick up at grocery stores and Walmart& don't forget chamber of commerence for towns large and small. All are great sources of information.
I have had success with Silver Dollar City in Branson. I called and spoke with someone and got 4 tickets the year before last. Last year, they just sent a letter and didn't get anything.
I have never had much success just sending letters, but if I call and speak with someone, I almost always get something.
One of my family's favorite destinations is near northeast Indiana in Archbold, Ohio. Sauder Village is a collection of historic homes and commercial buildings recreating life in the 1800's. There are crafters and shops, animals, and farm life exhibits. It's family friendly and easy to cover in one day. There's also a campground and hotel on site. Archbold is located one hour west of Toledo on Route 2. I'm sure you can find more info on the internet.
Does anyone here live in a state (particularly in midwest for me) that has great theme parks or great places to go and see. I am doing a silent auction and gathering addresses. I have sent to all the theme parks I know of a letter(ceder point, 6flags ky, and king's island) and our local museums and such, but I thought there could be places near my state (Indiana) that I might not know about and would be worth sending a letter to. Thanks for your help!
