I just thought I would share our yearly fundraiser with you all since I haven't read anyting like it on the boards. We have 2 chain grocery stores in town that let you cook-out in front of their store.
We advertise our cook-out to local businesses and the public. We offer businesses with orders over $20 a phone # so that they can call in their order, then we will deliver.
We shop for the items we need. Pork chops, brats, hot dogs, buns, chips, pop, you get the point. Then we make a list of the items that we are using from the store. At the end of the sale we pay the grocery store and the fundraiser is done.
We do this on a Friday and Saturday (we just did one this weekend.) from 10 to 3. We have about 8 volunteers for the day working about 3 hours each. Everyone has a good time doing it.
Pork chops with chips and a can of pop is $4.50
Bratwurst with chips and pop is $3.50
Hot dogs with chips and pop is $2.50
Total Sales $1149
grocery bill -$390.91
Total profit $758.09
I know to some of the PTO's $700 is chump change but to us its huge. This money covers the PTO's operating costs for a year. Things like insurance, printing costs, web site, and meals at the Parent-Teacher conf.
The community really seems to like it and we receive some donations during the cook-out too!
