My wife put together a very nice package that went into the live auction at our church 4th of July event. We are in Kansas City, and St. Louis makes a very nice weekend getaway. She contacted Six Flags, the various children's museums and such, plus wrote to a lot of motels. She was able to combine several donations into a package.
For the motels, she tried to focus her attention on ones that are located more to cater to business travelers, as they are more likely to be underbooked on weekends.
This strikes me as a great idea for those small towns that keep saying "there are only so many merchants in town". Another way to populate such a package would be if any of your members have access to discounted tickets through their jobs or credit union or some such. We used to have a member who worked for a major corporate sponsor of a theatre; he could buy tickets dirt cheap and would always donate a couple pairs.
Would you mind getting me that list from last year. I am a new PTO prez and I am struggling alittle with things. Just trying to keep my head above water!
Hi Rhonda, try doing a search using google for silent auction. This should bring up other schools and you can get ideas from them. I will look through our list and see what we have gotten. Don't forget to try all your local museums, sports teams, parks, etc. Maggie
Does anyone have any new people or address to contact regarding donations for a silent auction? I have the list from last year but I was hoping to add to it. thanks in advance for any help. Rhonda
