Sorry, I can't help with info about grants - but I'd love to hear about your progress. Our cheerleaders have just always done the tradional fundraisers (selling).
My experience is that cheerleading is oddly viewed. In our area it's considered an extracurricula activit/club, not a sport in middle school. But in high school it's a sport and even takes a class slot each day.
Our students must have a certain amount of PE credit as well as hour fine art credit. Cheerleading fits for PE, but isn't allowed for fine art per state rules. However, Flag Corp and the spirit dance team qualify for both. Go figure.
As far as fundraisers, one of the most common and most profitable for high school cheerleaders is running a Saturday cheerleading camp for younger girls.
My daughter has just joined the high school competative cheerleading team. We have been told that we must raise a large sum of money. I was wondering if anyone has attempted to write a grant for this. I have been told that cheerleading is not viewed as a sport to many people, this may hinder grant $$.Any information would be helpful.
