I think it is wrong to be selling meat in your school. What about the families that are vegitarian/vegan, or what about the people who's religion doesn't allow them to eat meat. I know you can't always make everyone happy, but I don't think selling dead pigs will bring you much money. Why not sell something that supports your school spirit and not obesity. Over 65% of our youth is already obese, why sell high priced meat to add to it?
There is a company out West that has a ham fundraiser. What you do is purchase gift cards for family to purchase their own ham OR actaully take orders for the ham of choice. The company is Honey Baked Hams and I would check their web page out to see what else they could show you.
I grew up in Iowa and miss going to the freezer for a nice ham especially after Fair!
am looking for advice on this new fundraising idea:
We want to sell spiral glazed hams in Illinois schools through fundraising programs. We were thinking about involving PTO/PTA/booster groups to help sell amish hams in schools. We are hoping to discover the logistics for such an idea before actually implementing it.
Do you have any ideas about this project? Have you heard of high-priced meats being sold in school fundraisers before?
ANY ADVICE/SUGGESTIONS WILL BE MUCH APPRECIATED!
thank you.
