We have been selling Scrip for the last 3 years. It took some time to get it going and get families interested, but once you get enough regular sales, it is a great fundraiser. We offer a 50% tuition credit as an incentive to purchase and last year paid out over $1900 in credit. Great Lakes Scrip is a great company to work with. They have fantastic customer service if you ever have a question or problem. The biggest obstacle is getting people to make that first purchase. Many don't know what Scrip is or think it's too much of a pain to place an order.
We have the biggest sales when we can have a table out for in-person sales either after school or at school events in the evening (open house, back-to-school night, etc). We have an inventory available in the school office so families can purchase from that at any time. Otherwise, definitely give families the ability to sign up for Presto Pay so they can order online and also be able to get electronic gift cards (ScripNow).
I send out order forms and/or notices of specials, bonus rebates, etc either weekly or every other week, depending on what else is being sent home that week. Don't be afraid to send out information regularly, eventually families will read it and realize it's an easy way to earn money for the school.
I'm interested to see what other groups use this. There doesn't seem to be a lot of information on Scrip on these message boards. Since Great Lakes redesigned their website, their forums are gone, so it's been hard to get ideas and tips from others using this program.
We are introducing Scrip fundraising at our school this upcoming year with shopwithscrip.com (Great Lakes).
I am looking for feedback from fellow Board members and parents about this program? Do (did) you like it? How many families would participate on a regular basis and was buy-in difficult? How much money did you make?
We will be doing this as an ongoing fundraiser - once a month ordering and twice in Nov & Dec.
