What about a calendar. I have seen ones done with a magnet backing for the fridge. It could have small ads and then a tear off calendar with just the dates or you could make the calendar piece a little larger and put school events on. Thinking of something like this but taller with ads at the top. You could say something about these businesses supporting ABC school PTO. Give them away for free to all families. Depending on what you charge for the ads this may or may not be cost effective.

What about newsletters that are sent home? Could you post their ads in the newsletters or on school lunch menus (I know some schools put out monthly ones). Maybe highlight a certain number each time.

Do you have a reader board where parents handling pickup and the community would see it? They could maybe be listed as a supporter so many times during the year.

This is the second year I have been in charge of our Parent Teacher group school directory. Last year I reinstituted selling ads for the directory from local and family owned businesses and turned it into a nice little fundraiser.

This year I did the same advertising fundraiser, however, due to the very high number of military, border patrol, defense contractor, etc. families, we have a HUGE number of families who have opted out of the directory. Due to this our board has decided to not publish the directory, but I sure hate to return all of that fundraising money that was earned.

Does anyone have any other GREAT ideas for some other item we can publish that will still be useful to parents, allow me to use the advertising, and still keep the income???? :D

(I will, of course, alert the advertisers to the change and allow them to decide to get their money back if they would like.)

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Carrie
