We are lucky to live in a community where local businesses are interested in supporting our schools, and more and more merchants are offering incentives to parents for shopping in their stores. For instance, a local pizza place will donate 10% of a pizza order to our school when a customer presents a keychain tag.
We're appreciative, but have two concerns:
1. We promote our own fundraisers, and we're concerned that promoting opportunities for 10% here and 10% there will overwhelm our parents. We don't want our weekly e-newsletter to become a laundry list of fundraising solicitations.
2. A family at our school owns a business. They contacted us three days before a week-long fundraiser—after our e-newsletter deadline—and are now angry we didn't promote it because other schools in our area did. They are requesting we create fundraising guidelines for businesses interested in fundraising for us, and while that sounds like a great idea, not all opportunities are the same...
Have any of you found fundraising guidelines that work for you? Any suggestions? Many thanks!
