Direct Donation Fundraiser Theme

Instead of a traditional thermometer for tracking, once you come up with a theme, make a slogan. Split the slogan into 10 different puzzle pieces. As you achieve 10% of the goal, put the first puzzle piece up, once you hit 20% of the goal, add the 2nd piece and so on until you achieve the entire goal when you put the last piece of the puzzle up.
(hope that makes sense)

As for a theme, is there something that you are using the money towards. That could steer your theme. For example, if you are looking to raise $10,000 so that you can add books to the library, you could do a "HOG WILD FOR READING" theme. Or are you looking for money specifically for the general fund.

Incentive, prizes, thank you gifts - you could see if there is a local business near you that would help with this. For example, we have a local bowling alley that gives free games whenever we ask. Do you have something similar? For every $10 donation, they could receive a free game of bowling. You could do different prizes for the $25, $50 and $100 level. There are a bunch of ideas for thank you's that are running through my head, depending on the size of your school and the age range of the school this could vary. You could plant flowers and give to the donator, you could do a tshirt that is made by students (each would be unique and you could get shirts for relatively inexpensive at craft stores), a small 4x6 picture/painting from a student that could be framed.

Our PFO has voted to try direct donation, or "no hassle," fundraising for next fall. We will begin our fundraiser at the beginning of the 2012-2013 school year. We are looking to get people excited about participating and are trying to come up with a good theme. Any ideas you have are appreciated!

We are hoping to have some kind of goal tracker - but really don't want to use the traditional thermometer. Any suggestions on that? What about incentives or prizes for certain donation amounts? Thoughts?

If your school has done this sort of fundraiser in the past, I would love to hear any advice or information you have from your experience.

Thanks!!
