Last year when we did Raffle Tickets and I made my own up on the computer with name, phone number and teacher name on them. They were bigger than the normal raffle tickets and this way the buyers had more room to write their information and we could read them. It had Name/ Phone No./Teacher Name and you should be able to get at least 10-12 per sheet depending on how you do yours.
We sent home a sheet of about 10 tickets printed on it. The kids sell them and when they are given the money the person buying it put their name and phone number on them. So all we have to do is make sure the money and the amount of tickets match up, Then we cut the tickets and put them in to draw.
We don't sell raffle tickets ahead of time; we sell them at the event, and people write their own names on one half, drop that half in the box and keep the other half. Could that be an option for you? It would save mailing costs too.
Tell us more about the tickets? Are this formal, printed raffle tickets or just something you create? How big? Do you have any control over size/format. (i.e. can you change if needed)? My ideas would be:
Stickers Would it be an option to send blank stickers along with the form (stapled in such a way they don't have to detach it)? You could instruct the buyer to PRINT name on the stickers and apply those to the tickets.
I work a lot with adhesive stickers (actually more labels/badges). If you try this:
Make sure sticker will easily fit on your ticket without having to be overly careful applying (otherwise may take more time than writing
Be sure writer can see the edges of the sticker / where one stops and other begins
Cheap stickers often are not worth the savings. They maybe be difficult to get off the sheet and they may not affix well.
Might be worth running through the printer to add lines/instructions
Blank Tickets
Somewhat along the lines of gift cards you buy at the checkout line - the card itself has no value until validated/activated... Could you send home blank tickets that the buyer completes but they have no meaning until received with payment and some sort of stamp added? You could have a custom stamp, or better yet, one that also increments the numbers. (or you could use stickers for that).
If your state has rules about raffles (and most do) that you are following, you may not be able to use this idea since the tickets would need to be a particular format and pre-numbered and you probably have to disclose the total being sold.
We are revamping our school raffle this year. In the past, we sent home order forms & parents ordered raffle tickets. When order forms were submitted, PTO would process the order and write the buyer's name on the back of the raffle ticket, drop it in the raffle box, and send the other half of the ticket back home to the parent as proof that the raffle ticket was purchased. As you can imagine, this took a lot of time for us to write the names on the backs of the tickets when processing the orders. Does anyone have a better system in place? The reason we wrote the name on the ticket is so that when we draw for the prizes on the day of our raffle, we just announce the name instead of the ticket number and it moves things along (we usually have around 75-100 items in our raffle). Any advice on this process would be appreciated. Thanks!
