Your profits from chocolate sales were $10K ? If so, that's a good amount of money, more than some schools make in an entire year !
Do they only do two fundraisers a year ?
I'd certainly attend a meeting and see what ideas are floating around already. I don't think removing a fund raiser that brings in $10K is a good idea though- especially without anything solid to replace it.
Another good idea is to try to gauge parent interest- if they're looking for change, maybe they'll have some great ideas too !
I think increasing "man power" is also very important.
There are several great companies to work with for fund raising- it just depends a lot on what type you're looking for
I'm a new parent at an elementary school of 900 or so kids.
Every year for the last 5 that we've lived here, our neighbor's kids show up with those world's best chocolate bars. My husband bought some once. i think 'world's best' might be pushing it.
The PTA is small, and according to the president, very low on manpower, so they're run pretty ragged.
The school does this and a marathon/walk a ton each year (that brought in $14k). Those are the two man in fundraisers.
Chocolate sales brought in $10k last year. That seems really low. If they asked for a $25 donation from parents they could get double that without any of the associated admin and such.
I've offered to be fundraising chair.
Those if you with more experience in dollars made to number of kids, Would you say it might be time to let chocolate go? The school is in a solid middle class neighborhood.
