Google "Great American Spellcheck". We did this for the first time last year and it was a HUGE success! It was so successful that we made up our own "Math Wizards" fundraiser this fall. What we did was send home a list of math problems for kids to study (based on grade level) and pledge forms. The kids asked family/friends to pledge money for every math problem they got right on the "Math Wizards" test they would take at school. We had incentives and prizes for forms returned and even had a special party with a live magician for the "wizards" who got 95% or better on their test. The kids LOVED it and we raised almost $4000 which is huge for us being a midwest, rural school.
I thought I read somewhere, years ago (no clue where now!), about aschool who did a mathathon or something to raise funds for the school.
Does any organization do a math, spelling or some such other item as part of their current fundraising program? Basically something academically based that could be turned into a fundraiser?
If so, how does it work? What does it entail? What is the outcome? What is the participant size?
I have done a quick search but can't locate anything about... so any information would be appreciated!
