I am not here to say yes or no to the program, but my wife thought it was pretty cool that they had a section where all coupons available on the market were in one location. It beats going from one site to another. And as I understand, the MPR site also sends you exclusive coupons from many national merchants. If you play golf, there are thousands of courses that offer discounts. there are discounts on gift cards, hotels, and I also think you get free offers just for signing up. Plus there are many restaurants that offer up to 50% off.
I guess you could find all of this somewhere else, but all in all, it's not a bad deal for $20 (I could easily find $20 in savings), and is it any worse of a deal for the consumer than a $8 roll of gift wrap or a $15 "trinket" that one can buy in a dollar store for $1.00? And the last time I looked, all the offers on the $10 discount card come in the paper every week. Just food for thought!
Myparentsrewards would be a waste of money to the consumer. I went on line and you can get almost every coupon on line FREE.
Especially the grocery coupons. I have a free program that e-mails me daily os clip and save coupons and they don't cost a thing.
As for the entertainment book, sales have dropped drastically.
The coupons and savings are not what they used to be years ago and I find it not worth the $25.
I would rather purchase a $10 savings card. They have more offers from your community. It helps merchants in your own town and gives us the savings at the same time
If you are in the market for a coupon book/card, I would check out the newest entry---My Parent Rewards. What I did like about it that "Aunt Jane" who lives in Chicago and buys a card from her niece who lives in LA and her niece's school gets credit. Aunt Jane can use in in Chcicago or anywhere and everywhere in the U.S. (I think entertainment offers something like that, but it costs more than the normal $25 book charge). And according to their website, it is only $20 with no minimums, no shipping, no risk. it is also "Green" as there is no longer any need for a big book. As I said earlier, it is definitely worth looking into. Just Google My Parent Rewards or MPR and check it out.
This is our second year with Entertainment Books. They have been very successful for our school and in this economy it seems to do better than the "junk" sales. Our catalog sales were declining every year so we thought we would try the books. And they were a hit.
I'm big fan of coupons and normally search the Internet for printable coupons before shopping. So that version might be interesting. But I still love just having the book in my car to use as needed without any planning. It influences some of my purchasing decisions.
Where are we going to lunch today? Hmmm, what coupons do we have?
The Entertainment book is okay, but the buzz around fund raising is a new program called My Parent Rewards. They advertise that they are everything a coupon book is, but in a card. You access it online, and you only print out the coupons you need, thus, it is very "Green". You can also use anywhere in the country, so there is no need to buy a book for each city. Free offers for signing up and weekly updates from hundreds of national retailers makes it look very interesting. I think it will cost $20 with the school earning $8.00. I have heard it will be ready to launch August 1st, but you can see it at Myparentrewards.com.
