I have no idea. But if they were successful using the "VG" name, they will probably keep it. I do wonder though, since Varsity Gold burned Otis Spunkmyer for over $4,000,000 credit could be tough to come by.
You are right, Varsity Gold is no longer in business. However, it would not be unusual for some of their reps to continue to rep products in a different form (i.e cookie dough), and still use the Varsity Gold name. It has happened many times in this business. They are taking advantage of the name recognition. My only advice is to make sure the new reps are financially stable and are just not a "trunk slammer".
I was approached this week to purchase items from Varsity Gold. In trying to look at their products online, I discovered that they have filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy.
1. Why would the school be approached by a representative, 2 months after the bankruptcy filing? Am I missing something?
2. Is is possible that this rep is clueless or could this be a scam for someone to perhaps recuperate their own losses at my expense?
3. Since I know of this situation now - and the school rep is not interested in letting other parents know about the problem, should I just refuse to fundraise or should I take this knowledge upline to the principal? I don't want my child to suffer for not doing her share of fundraising, but I don't want to ask family and friends to contribute to something that I hear may not be in existance.
