Consider using CAFECOSA's Fair Trade & Sustainable Coffee Fundraiser. They source, pack & ship all their products from the mountain town of San Marcos de Tarrazu, Costa Rica in an effort to create jobs when the 3 month coffee harvest is over.

They have a curriculum available for elementary schools about coffee, Costa Rica & the environment.

This is a pre-sale/brochure fundraiser with no-up front costs. The customer service is amazing and the products sell extremely well - especially the Coffee Flower Honey!

Consider combining teaching a unit on sustainabiltiy and running a fundraiser. One idea involves teaching the children about protecting their watershed and how tap water comes into their home. In contrast, look at the life cycle of a disposable plastic water bottle. You can involve your school's environmental committee (or other group of students) to conduct an audit of the number of disposable bottles thrown away at your school every day. Then run a fundraiser selling reusable customized stainless steel bottles to reduce your use of disposables and raise money for your school at the same time. Follow-up by conducting another audit and report the positive impact you are having on the environment!

I have been thinking about this as a future fundraiser. Glad to hear it was a great success! However, the company I am dealing with is here in Ohio- TCP. For those on the west coast you might want to check into them. We have a friend that works for them and he is always traveling out to CA.

This looks like a really great program, but it appears to only work in two states on the mid to east coast, so us on the west coast wouldn't be eligible for the program. But if they ever expnad it everywhere, i thinks it's a great idea.
