With the current state of the economy, fundraising will become more challenging for all of us.
In speaking with parents involved in fundraising efforts, this is what I hear time and time again…
A. The parents, community (the donors) are kind of tired of the same old products and services being offered to them; baked goods, coffee mugs and other merchandise, etc. They wish they could purchase something that would benefit them in some way.
B. Sometimes the actual funds given to us by the fundraising company, at the end of the project or campaign, seem to be low based on the amount of work/effort (planning, paperwork, and ‘politics’)--several months--put into it.
C. Sometimes fundraising is a disruption for our students. Making phone calls, walking the neighborhood, filling out forms. And then they have to do their homework!
Which challenge above (A, B, or C) do you hear the most?
As we plan for 2009, what are some of the other ‘challenges’ you have heard?
